Randolph Splitter

Randolph Splitter has published three books, including, most recently, THE RAMADAN DRUMMER (Pandamoon), which Elizabeth McKenzie, National Book Award-nominated author of The Portable Veblen, calls "an ingenious detective novel set in the contact zone... where violence is always possible but where humanity endures. [It] tackles the great issues of our time with wit and vision.” He has also published numerous short stories, written award-winning screenplays, and made two short films.

His latest book, The Third Man, is a novel about dispossession, exile, and the search for justice and humanity that moves from Vienna in the 1930s to England in the 1940s—and back.

Splitter graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton College; earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Berkeley; and taught at Caltech and De Anza College. He currently lives with his wife in Portland, Oregon, where he dodges raindrops, plays tennis, writes novels, and exercises his social conscience.
